Volunteer Opportunities

In order to better serve the community, Sanguinarius is looking for a number of people to help out in various volunteer positions. I am seeking dedicated and loyal help who will take their job seriously even though it’s not-for-pay (and not get bored after a few weeks and wander off to do something else).

If you are interested in one of the openings, contact Sanguinarius’s “Vampire Resources Dept.” with your qualifications, experience and the position you are applying for.

The positions Sanguinarius has open are:

Audio Reader

(Reposted: November 24, 2014)

Must speak English clearly and fluently and with no strong accent. Must be able to read out loud easily and conversationally and have a clear, strong and pleasant voice. I will need to hear a 5-minute sample of your voice while reading. You will be recording yourself reading selected articles into wav or mp3 format, so you will need some sort of audio program such as Audacity (free), a good-quality microphone, and a quiet background when you are recording, and be able to do so without interruption or mistakes.

FAQs Editor

(Reposted: November 24, 2014)

Must have good communications and organization skills. Must also be knowledgeable of real vampires and vampirism. Should be down to earth and a fairly patient person. You will be writing answers to Frequently Asked Questions, sorting them into categories, and combining and/or deleting questions which are similar or duplicates.

IRC Op (Temp Op to start)

(Reposted: November 24, 2014)

You should be a regular guest in Channel #Sanguinarius for at least 3 months, and be calm, knowledgeable, helpful and levelheaded. You must be able to spend several hours in the channel per day, at least 4 days per week. A gift of gab is essential. A knowledge of real vampires and otherkin is preferred.

You will need to be familiar with IRC in general and dal.net commands in particular. You should be familiar with and willing to enforce #Sanguinarius’s rules (posted on the IRC page) even if you do not agree with them. You’ll be responsible for starting and guiding discussions, and encouraging guests to talk. Things might be slow with nobody talking for long periods; you’ll need to pay attention anyway. I will not let FaceBook kill my channel. If you prove helpful and beneficial to the channel, you will most likely be promoted to AOp. AOps will need to be signed onto a communication channel for the Ops and subscribe to a Yahoo Groups communications list, read and post updates and generally coordinate channel activity with other Ops (both Aops and SOps).

Second Life Chat Host

(Reposted: November 24, 2014)

Must be familiar with Second Life and able to run it easily on your computer. You will be hosting regular text chats at Sanguinarius Community Center in Second Life. You will be responsible for scheduling the weekly chat or chats, posting the information, sending out reminders to the group, showing up at the scheduled times, greeting guests and keeping people talking and interested for the duration of the chat. A gift of gab is essential. A knowledge of vampires and otherkin is preferred.

I’m not looking for machine translations! I want someone who is bilingual and can speak and write both English and Spanish fluently. You will be translating selected articles and possibly the Guidelines, Tips & Advice section, as well as the FAQs. You may be responsible for coining some words or concepts that do not have this language’s equivalents, or deciding to import the English word into the Spanish language.
