[ Good Vampires Do: p1 - ] Are vampires a bunch of uncaring, violent, psychotic, selfish monsters? Can a vampire do some good in this world? Of course! Most of us are pretty decent folks with (fairly) normal lives. In this section, I'm showcasing the good that vampires can -- and do -- do: whether helping the elderly, supporting a good cause, or volunteering for a charity; whether catching the "bad guys", helping to host a block party, or saving a life -- we'll show we do it! This is a brand new section, under development and there's not a lot here. I'd like for real vampires to send in their personal anecdotes, with only one stipulation: that your story must be true, not a work of fiction. Seeking contributions and input. All submissions become the property of Sanguinarius: The Vampire Support Page, and will be considered for inclusion herein. Submissions may be edited. If you have an experience that you would like to share, send it to me, but let me know that it's for this page, and that it is ok to include what you wrote. --Sanguinarius
Since Thanksgiving of 2005, Belfazaar Ashantison, Zaar to his close friends, has worked to bring a warm meal and hope to the hungry and homeless of New Orleans by bringing food to Jackson Square. Through its meager beginnings in 2005, this practice has grown to include his House members first and then the Houses and Orders of the New Orleans Vampire Association. These tri-annual feedings occur at Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. At these times, the member Houses of NOVA (New Orleans Vampire Association) come together and cook, carry out and serve the meal items in Jackson Square. The times may vary according to weather however, each of these three feedings have always gone on. Past menu items have included: Chocolate spiced ham, turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, sweet potatoes/candied yams, apple/pumpkin/pecan pies and brown and serve rolls. These outreach programs are made possible and continue through the kind and generous support of donations made through the NOVA website at http://www.neworleansvampireassociation.org/donate.html.
I first started out with Meals on Wheels when my mom and I saw they were in need of help in our community. We have been doing it now for a year or so. I enjoy making a difference in the older folks' lives, by bringing up their mail and such for them. I am also now active in Habitat for Humanity, all because I had a desire to help out on a Womans-Only Build. From there led me to helping out many Saturdays and sometimes during the week in their local Restore, which is a place to buy decent furniture and building supplies. I am also the Historian for this great organization, a position I have held for about 6 months or so. I am an admin of Smoke and Mirrors website. Contributed by Starfire, starfire7723 (at) yahoo.com I was outside in my usual sunglasses/hat attire, and I saw a kid go running through the street. I heard a car coming, and drew all the frustration at lacking a donor, since I haven't gotten the hang of psi feeding yet, and pushed it into a yell. "Hey! Kid!" He looked over at me, and I pushed the same frustration at him, and he backed away and off the street -- seconds before the car would have hit him. It was speeding and was going too fast to stop and avoid the kid. I felt really good for helping the kid, and just thought I should send this in.
