Vampire Poll
Responses, Page 12

Back in the days when Sanguinarius: The Vampire Support Page was
located on AOL, I was able to run a short questionnaire from a modified
guestbook script hosted by AOL. Once I moved the site off of AOL's servers,
I no longer had the ability to run the response form off their script.
I've not found anything suitable since then to use, so I'm not running
the poll any longer or accepting new resonses; this may change someday
if I find a suitable script to use.
The poll ran from 3 January, 1998 until 31 December, 2000. I have archived
the responses the poll recieved in this section, and guests are still
able view them.

Response: They are not actually someone you might see standing
right in front of you. I don't mean that they are "invisible", I just
think that you would "feel" their presence, before you would actually
see them. It's hard for me to explain... I don't have any physical proof
that they exist, but every since I was a little girl, I've "felt" their
existence. I realize that i may sound weird to some of you, but hey, this
is MY personal opinion. ;}

Response: Romantic in their own ways and overplayed in today's
society. Live forever, sunlight is bad for the skin, have their own personalities,
some may require blood for health reasons (but of course is not necessary,
for there is no such thing as a real Vampire). I just love the idea of
how, who, what, and persona of Vampires. One word, beautiful. I am not
one because there is no such thing, but I wish I could be.

Response: I don't think there is any real definition. It is like
trying to describe something undescribable, like human behavior. People
tend to catergorize and assume many things. "Vampire" to most
people is just another icon or a piece of Americana, like Santa or the
Easter Bunny. Then there are other definitions. This page is interesting.
A vampire is someone or something that lacks in something they vitally
need. I guess you could say everyone is a vampire by that definition,
people in society need money, and food to survive in their typical comfortable
status; that is a quite normal thing to need. A "Vampire" needs something
that most already have, and take for granted.

Response: I think we are dark, lost souls who have a hard time
fitting into this world, although others may not be able to recognize
us. The vampy clothes are just a tool of self-expression for those of
us who can get away with it. (Others of us have to work.) We may not all
actually drink blood. In fact, I don't recommend it, but most crave it
in some way.

Response: Personally, I cannot deny the romantic vision we all
have of vampyres, what we read in literature and view in cinema. But the
thought of vampyres truly existing is even more perplexing. Perhaps it
could be your next door neighbor or co-worker, they could be anyone, becaue
vampyres are not stereotypical "god" or "goddess" like creatures, they
remain as everyone else, with a few extra perks. *S*

Gender: Female
Age: 24
Response: I believe that vampires are descendants of Lilith, The
first woman, before Eve. And that if it wasn't for Adam's inferiority
complex, Vampires would be the majority in this world, and not humans.
I don't believe that vampires are immortal, or are any more special or
better than humans. We are just different. Bloodthirst is not the only
thing that makes a vampire. There is also a severe quest for knowledge,
and for preservation of ancient knowledge, and to be able to pass what
we learn on to generations to come. Generations of Vampires and Humans
alike.... for ignorance breeds contempt (pardon the cliche) and once we
elimate ignorance, we find acceptance, or at least tolerance.

Response: We are those who shall never truely fit in, our very
nature and instincts cause us to be shunned by a majority of society.
Not thought of as real (Though we VERY much are) thought of by the media
as mentally disturbed freaks or murderous joke! That, we are NOT! We are
very much like any human, only we prefer the night life much against wandering
amoungst the day. Drinking the blood makes one feel vitalized and connected
with the vessel they may share it with... although it isn't a CONSTANT
need, it is still needed to secure one's place and relax their primal
instincts.. both beautiful and hideous, violent and peaceful ...glamorous
and disturbing....

Response: I believe that we can be the most Gentle creatures on
earth. Get on our bad side and the quiet ones will play mind games; get
on the bad side of the loud ones and you could have all the power of Pele
on your hands. (Pele the Volcano goddess). I believe it works both ways!

Response: That explosive craving, not the thought of what you're
craving...that never enters your mind (sometimes). The fact that your
friends constantly see you doing vampire things even though you've never
told them about it or given any sign. The craving.... The fact that you
never seem to have the same schedule as normal people. The craving...
Getting annoyed at the wannabe's when they have no real idea. The craving...
Wondering what the hell is wrong with you. Did I mention the craving???

Response: I think that a vampire is anyone who "feeds off" another
person's essence, be it blood, energy, a specific reaction to a situation,
etc., and uses it to their advantage, sort of like a "fuel" for something.

Response: They are quiet, intelligent, have some psychic abilities.
Their eyes are light-sensitive, but vampires do have the ability to move
around during the day. They will invariably wear sunglasses if it is the
least bit sunny outside. They are not "morning people". Most vampires
have a taste for steaks that are cooked very rare (usually just barely
warm). Most vampires have a fondness for keeping reptiles for pets. As
far as the next question goes, "Do I consider myself to be a vampire?",
most people who actually know me would consider me a vampire, so I guess
I would have to agree.
