Attitudes Towards the "Vampirically Disadvantaged"by Sanguinarius It has been brought to my attention that we vampires have been perceived as having somewhat of a snobbish, elitist attitude towards those who want to know, or learn about, or possibly even become, vampires. I feel that this really is not a good way to deal with this situation. We shouldn't blow these people off, -- we should welcome them, talk to them, share with them. I think that most of this attitude can be accounted for by the fact that so many of us frequently encounter those who want to be vampires but who have an extremely different perception as to what being a vampire means. They come and ask for us to make them into something that we ourselves would like to be, and are not; else they come asking for it, without having stopped to consider certain basic matters, such as how they will go about obtaining blood and how they will deal with it if they do not. -- I have even encountered more than one person who wanted to be turned, but it honestly had not even occurred to them that they would be needing to consume blood at all! Now that's BAD! (And I am not making this up.) These people are lost and lonely, and it would truly mean a great deal to them if we were to reach out a hand in friendship, rather than to wave them away like a pesky bugs. I had fallen into that attitude and I didn't even realize it or care, until someone said something to me about this. We need to stop in our tracks and do an about-face. Let's stop the rejection. It sucks to be rejected, especially by someone you really look up to; and these people look up to us. 'K?
