A virtual community center in a virtual world. This might very well be what Sanguinarius.org would be like if it physically existed as an actual place. It houses a library with articles in the bookshelves, a conversation area, some fun games, a spooky graveyard outside (complete with crypt and fog) and much more. We even have a virtual cat, Fuzzbutt (and his pet mouse, Mr. Squeaky)! We host regular weekly chats. Join our group in-world for announcements.
Sanguinarius.org has established a virtual community and information center in Second Life for real vampires, donors, otherkin and therians.
Second Life is a virtual world created by Linden Labs, which you can use to chat with others, build things, design fantasy clothing, buy and sell virtual objects, share information, own an island, dance in a club, listen to music or watch videos, talk to people from around the world, and so much more. You explore Second Life using a viewer; you can either use their official viewer or choose from a variety of third-party viewers (recommended) which provide much better interfaces and experiences (and Linden Labs doesn’t mind, as long as the third-party viewer meets a minimum threshold of standards).
The Sanguinarius Community Center offers a library with many articles in the bookcases. Contained are articles for, by and about real vampires, health and medical issues, psycho-emotional and spiritual matters, donors, seekers, otherkin and therian, magick and many more topics.
(We are desperately seeking articles on, for and by otherkin and therians — FAQ’s, personal experiences, terms and definitions, explanations of different phenotypes, etc. If you have an article you would like to see added to the library, please drop off a notecard with the article included. This will ensure that it gets to someone who can get it to Sanguinarius or Sphynx in a timely manner. Out of world, for the time being, please email it to sphynxcatvp (at) nocturna (dot) org. It doesn’t have to be a timeless masterpiece of literature, but please DO check your spelling, grammar and punctuation! Include an article title and the name you want on the byline, and we’ll get it added to the shelves. If you submit someone else’s article, please be sure it’s legal to share, copyright-wise. Enough articles will also mean an Otherkin and Therian section is created on the sanguinarius.org domain, as well!)
There is a seating area where you can sit and chat or read the articles in the bookcases. (Bookcases that have articles will also have labels on the bottom front indicating the types of articles inside. Ones without labels have no contents.) Selected real vampire related books are also posted around the Center — touch/click each cover picture to get an informational notecard, and an external weblink where you can purchase a real-life hard copy for yourself. And up the grand staircase, we host a vampire kitty art gallery, conference center and games room.
If we can stir up enough interest and support, we will be hosting events such as chats and discussions, and possibly have speakers come and talk on a variety of subjects. Check the event board.
We also have a nice, spooky graveyard for the gothic- and Halloween-inclined to lurk in.
We are open to new ideas and suggestions. Inworld, use the bulletin board to tack up suggestions, or drop us a notecard.
We have a group you can join so you can chat with others and receive event notices and updates, participate in group chat, etc. Group members can also set the Sanguinarius Community Center as their home.
Thanks to our new location, we have room once again for a dance floor — in a full-sized tavern named Club LifeForce! This tavern is also available for your events or parties, or if you would like to try your hand at running a club/tavern for a while. Simply drop Sanguinarius Magne a notecard and someone will contact you to discuss arrangements.
If you like Sanguinarius Community Center in Second Life, and find it useful, informative and entertaining, be sure to add us to your profile picks, and spread the word about us. Also, if you are able, please donate something in-world to help ensure we can continue to provide this wonderful resource. Donation box is inside, in the library seating area.
We hope you drop by and check us out soon.
