I suspect my friend is a vampire. How can I find out casually, without offending him/her or making a fool of myself if s/he isn't?

You might start out by talking about the paranormal, if that's something that interests your friend, and gradually move towards vampires, and see what his/her responses are, how s/he feels about them, etc. At some point, mention you were looking on the web at a site about real vampires and that it was intriguing, and see what his/her responses are. If s/he gives positive responses, maybe press on and say that you wonder if there could be real vampires or not? This conversation might be something that takes place all at once, or over a couple of conversations or days, or whatever. Feel things out as the conversation progresses, and move forward as quickly or as slowly as you feel is right. At the very least, if s/he turns out not to be, it could make for an interesting conversation. 🙂

Colimbina adds: “It may be possible that your friend is an unawakened vampire. If you're getting a vampy vibe from him/her, but aren't sure whether it's right or not, no amount of hinting and conversation will get him/her to admit s/he is a vamp if s/he doesn't know it him/herself.” So be gentle in your hints and questioning and possibly given your friend some information that will lead him/her to sanguinarius.org or some other good vampire information site.
