Someone recently requested help on navigating the new version of Sanguinarius.org. I’ll certainly give it a go, although a lot has changed and will continue to change as the site evolves. I don’t guarantee that I’ll cover everything but I’ll mention some of the basics:
You can navigate to different sections of the site, and also hop on over to other sites, using the top-of-the-page Navigation Menu. Mouseover one of the “tabs”/headings and a dropdown menu will appear for you to click on your selection.
In the left-hand column, login or sign up (for posting, submitting articles (posts) and other things. Below that, you can view information by categories (ex., all donor info or check out the Press Room or the videos you can watch.
You can also view information (posts) by month, so if you’re, say, looking for a particular article and you know you read it 2 months ago (or if you haven’t been to the site in a couple months), you can more easily find stuff published during that month by selecting the month.
Below the Poll, are a few sites’ RSS feeds, which show 5 each of their most recent articles/posts and excerpts; these will update periodically as they publish new material (so check back from time to time).
In the right-hand column, you can view the site in an alternate language. Below that, you can click through to some of Sanguinarius’s external resources (such as this discussion group), or the chatroom.
If you search by category, it will return all the posts that have been included in that topic, and you can click through to each article (post) from the title (when you mouseover it, it highlights to white).
On the first page of Sanguinarius.org, it’s “News and Announcements” with an intro to v5 and below that a listing of recent News and Announcements (what else–?). Below that is a basic sitemap with a list of pages.
The RSS feed in the footer includes a different version of Real Vampire News and the content will generally update as new posts are made. Same with Recent Posts. The other stuff is more technical than it is to do with vampire support or information.
I think that about covers the navigation.
Some of the changes that have been made include folding the teen vampires, parents, and awakening vampires sections into what now is the Knowledge Archive (formerly the Vampire Guide, Tips & Advice section and the Articles Library). That’s the most major change. I got rid of the old Awards Page; site awards were popular back before MySpace and FaceBook when people actually made real webpages (imagine that!), and have long since fallen out of fashion. I’ve tweaked a lot of stuff, — too much to mention or recall, — and dropped a few useless pages, plus added a few more.
The Real Vampire Directory has become the Links Library and focuses solely on real vampire, donor, otherkin/therian and community-related websites, businesses and services.
